Prior to our departure, the elder two Martin kiddies participated in their school's Sports Carnival, and once again laughed in the face of genetics, actually placing in a few events.
Yes, the coffee machine is in there.
We set off at about 2 pm, and despite my *cough* innate optimism, I anticipated hitting both local school traffic and Sydney peak hour on our way to Yass (the jewel in Yass Valley's crown). Somehow, we managed to miss both of these surges of congestion, and even avoided one young man who was yawning, lane-crossing and head-nodding his way down the Campbelltown off-ramp.
Much to Joshie's delight (and Lily's horror) Jen burst into a live rendition of A.I.M - Fire! by Art vs Science when it came on the radio - complete with seat-shimmy. Josh then favoured us with his own interpretation of lyrics of a range of songs. The Southern Highlands looked significantly greener than when we passed through here in January.
As camera-shy as always.
We pulled into the Thunderbird Motel (seriously, who names these places?) at around 7:30pm, the kids nearly weeping with joy when they realised that the place had WiFi. The room is a cavernous affair, resplendent in apricot and grey-blue. Tomorrow will see us in the car for around 6 and a half hours, before making it to The Spirit of Tasmania - so clearly looking forward to that.
